Herkimer, New York

We left our campsite late today, we were all tired from yesterday and actually managed to sleep in. It was a super cold night and none of us wanted to get out from under the covers. We had a late breakfast and then headed out!

We have stayed off all the major highways and traveled through small towns today. We even saw an Amish horse and buggy going down the street, but I wasn’t fast enough to get A picture.

For lunch we found a little pull off and while I made quesadillas Alan and the girls went down to fish!

We found our campground, but decided to drive on into the city nearby and see if there was anything to do…there wasn’t! So we went back to our campground and found out we were right on a river! So Alan and the girls talked me into tubing down the river! 😳

What a time we had. Our first trip was quite a mess. We started together and then the current pulled us apart. Ry and I were up ahead, Daddy and Bree behind. Then I turned backwards, hit a rock and flipped over, end over end! I saved my sunglasses from floating away and stood up only to realize my daughter was floating away! I tried to catch up to her but thankfully she is strong and paddled to the shore. Then Alan and Bree came up on

a huge rock that split them…I was panicking, Bree is not my strong one. Thankfully the current from the rock just pushed them right back together! Time to get out!!! But, the girls loved it and wanted to go again. This time I sternly ordered my family not to let go of each other. We made it the whole way down without incident, daddy guided us, I paddled us and the girls just held on. Afterwards I used it as a lesson that our family is always stronger when we stick together! Needless to say the girls and Alan LOVED it, I took Advil and am nursing a bruised hip, but secretly I enjoyed it!
