We started our last day in Ft. Lauderdale with a trip even more south to Biscayne National Park.
95% of this park is underwater. We weren’t sure what all we could do here, but we were hoping to see a manatee.
The boat ride to the outer islands was booked so we opted to go kayaking. Mom stayed on land…boating isn’t her thing. 🤔 If you know her this might seem strange, but it’s small boats she doesn’t like. I opted to put Ry with dad, since daddy wasn’t here I was gonna take Bree and figure I would do most of the rowing.
Boy was I wrong!! Bree was an awesome rower. 🚣🏻♀️ Once I explained it to her she got it.
I even let her get us out of a canal all on her own against the wind. I was so shocked!
We rowed to a canal that might have manatees but had been told it was actually too cold for them right now and they weren’t around. So no manatees for us, but a brown pelican and a crab!
Dad and Ryanna wanted to see the mangroves up close so we headed towards them… dad let Ry walk on the roots so Bree had to too! Maneuvering close enough to the mangroves so they didn’t tip the boat when they got out was a challenge, but we got it!
It was such a fun adventure, not much wildlife except birds and fish but it was a lot of fun.
After our adventure we headed home. The girls were super excited to see a green flag when we got back. The sun was setting but they wanted to go to the beach one last time.
They played until 7pm when the sun ☀️ was almost gone.
Such a great day!! Now off to see the mouse! 🐭
