Today marks our longest day of driving on our trip so far. We woke up early in Portland to head out, but sometimes work calls so we got up early, then waited for Alan to be ready! π€£
We basically got on the 5 freeway all the way to Sam Francisco so there isn’t much to document.
Lunch was definitely In n Out that we spotted from the freeway right before we left Oregon. Alan was sleeping so he missed the picture!
Second, Welcome to California!
It’a been 7 years since I’ve been “home” I was very happy to see those poppies!!
Shortly after we came over the border we entered the Shasta Valley and a small town called Weed. This is where my Grandpa is buried. I never knew him, he died very young but my dad has taken me here a few times and there was no way I could just drive by. So Alan helped me locate his tombstone.
There’s a little of him in all three of us! Thanks Grandpa for dad/Pappy he’s the best, you’d be so proud of him!
Next stop, San Francisco!
There is nothing like the fog of San Francisco, it sits over the bay and you can see it from miles away!
Once we got settled in our room we grabbed dinner downstairs and hit the hay! It was a long day of riding!!
It’s a funny thing coming home. Nothing changes. Everything looks the same, feels the same, even smells the same. You realize what’s changed is you. -Fitzgerald
