Our last California Destination is San Diego! Alan has wanted to come here for awhile but we have never made it, until now. Good morning from San Diego!
Our first stop was Pipe’s Cafe for breakfast at the beach! It was so good!!! Giant burritos and tons of food, with iced coffee for me and Ry!
We switched roles in San Diego and Alan navigated while I drove! He had set out a course for the day so we set off down the coast to our first stop!
Torrey Pines State Reserve
Our friends had told us about this place where we could hike out to the cliffs and to the beach! It was awesome! We hiked a few miles and loved it!
It was a very cool place!
Next up was La Jolla cove! We had heard that there might be the lost Sea Lions of San Francisco there!
And there was!!!!! There were sea lions everywhere. We could hear them as we were driving in! This is where the sea lions of San Francisco come to have their pups and breed in the summer.
The girls had so much fun running along the beach taking thousands of pics and videos of these sea lions! I really enjoyed it too!!
Then Alan found a super fancy Italian restaurant on a rooftop we enjoyed! It was so cool!
We had prosciutto and pesto and homemade pasta and amazing pizza!!! It was a fabulous find by Alan that takes two week in advance reservations for dinner, but we got in for lunch!!!
We spent more time in La Jolla after lunch souvenir shopping and just watching the sea lions make so much noise! We were there during their 15 day mating period so they were very vocal! Especially the bachelors in the water that didn’t have any girlfriends!
Onto another destination! We were headed to mission beach where everyone said was a great place for families…they were right there were tons of families, so many we couldn’t even park so we found another spot, Ocean Beach!
It was pretty overcast and chilly but we enjoyed walking the beach and pier and watching the surfers.
Next stop…sunset cliffs!
We had planned to get here early to watch an amazing sunset. We got a spot right on the edge of the cliffs and hung out. We saw two weddings and two proposals while we sat!
We played uno while we waited for the sun to set.
Then more clouds rolled in…and more…and more…and then sunset happened and nothing changed except it was colder! π€£
That’s ok, not much could spoil this day! It had been perfect!
We had two stops left!!! First up was Tacos El Gordo! Our friends had told us about it and said we had to try their carnitas!
So we headed more south, 7 miles from the Mexican border!
We ordered from a menu we couldn’t read and Bree was worried she was gonna get food poisoning! But we didnt it was all pretty yummy!
Alan got tacos de Adobada, I got an asada vampiro, Ry went with Asada quesadilla and Bree just got asada on a corn tortilla!
It did not disappoint! We hit the jackpot on our meals today!!
Last stop of the night was Coronado! I just love the hotel and it was so beautifully lit up along with the entire San Diego Harbor!
Happiness comes in waves, seas the day!
This is a very fun, engagging, and informative blog. Thank you for letting me vicariously travel with y’all
